Even with one-handed operation, the ratchet thimble outside micrometre provides more accuracy. Mitutoyo's mechanical outside micrometre has a ratchet thimble that ensures a smoother, continuous measuring force on the spindle for accurate, repeatable measurements. When measuring a wide variety of varied dimensions or for easier, one-handed measurements, the combination of the ratchet thimble and speeder allows for a rapid spindle feed.
