A radiometer is a device that measures the amount of radiant energy present. Single photocell sensors are used in the majority of radiometers. An optical filter is typically employed to detect radiation emitted from a given spectrum or to incorporate the radiometer inside a specific spectral response. Optical filtering of this type is a more straightforward and cost-effective option. Irradiance and radiance measurement are the most common industrial applications of radiometers. Radiance measurement is commonly used to quantify the radiation emission from a source. When the level of exposure is a problem, on the other hand, an irradiance or integrated irradiance measurement is taken.
