To measure the distance between two points on a part or object that are at right angles to one another, use a calliper gauge. Caliper gauges can be built expressly to measure an object's inside or exterior diameter and come in dial or digital formats. Although calliper gauge accuracy varies slightly depending on the type of gauge used and the measurement being taken, these instruments are generally renowned for their high levels of accuracy and their simple operation.
